The food cart trend has well and truly taken off, and it’s no real surprise to find friction between the trucks and brick-and-mortar restaurants. The Wall Street Journal reports on the growing tension in many cities between the two, and the legislation that is struggling to keep up.
City ordinances on parking and location restrictions are leaving the trucks frustrated, and sometimes with fines and court dates on their hands. On the other side, restaurants see the food trucks with an unfair advantage in terms of mobility and lower costs, and are themselves frustrated over location rights.
