The Working Life with Sammy Glinn is the first in a series of episodes conceived and directed by Luisa Conlon and Jen Goma. The Working Life is a food blog about people. In the spirit of amateur anthropology, the project observes the culture of food work in New York City in the form of short video in this particular instance. Other episodes and blogs appear in the form of photography, and field notes. The series aims to keep a candid and creative record of this life as it is happening.

Chef Sammy Glinn is the chef of a small yet highly acclaimed bar that serves some of the best food in the ever evolving and competitive food scene in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This video takes us inside the tiny confines that Chef Glinn calls his office. There is no ventilation system, no deep friers, no gas grill. It’s all Electric baby!

This in itself is an incredible challenge but as we learn from the video, Chef Glinn’s background working under one of NYC’s most acclaimed chefs in the past 10 years taught him to face challenges with a solution-based attitude. The result is a surprisingly good menu considering his equipment limitations and the reviews for his food have been consistently great from food blogs to food magazines.

Watch and enjoy!
